Typeface Design Spiralz

Design Challenge: The goal of this project was to create a visually pleasing decorative typeface. I was inspired by Fibonacci's work and wanted to make a typeface that emulates it. I found it difficult to use the golden ratio as much as possible in each letter, being that most letters need straight strokes. 

Design Process: After sketching multiple versions of each letter, I chose the best uppercase and lowercase designs, then digitized the letters. I used repeated shapes to make the alphabet cohesive.

Design Solution: In order to make the typeface legible, I decided to use the spiral for the finials, ascenders, descenders and inside counters, while keeping a simple and solid form for most of each letter form.

Software: Photoshop was used to create the Spiralz typeface.
