Design Challenge: Create a realistic book cover in Photoshop by combining various images and text, working with multiple layers and sections.

Design Process: This book cover was inspired by my original acrylic painting “Jellyfaische.” The made up word is a combination of jellyfish face. The theme of the artwork and of the book are dark and mysterious, which is why I chose to use the cool color palette and high contrast. 

Design Solution: I began by placing the image, then blending the edge in to the darkness of the back cover. The addition of the inner cover folds allowed for better use of the full image and left room to add a couple more jellyfish. The flowing typeface compliments the theme of being underwater, while brightly standing out from the dark imagery.  

Software: This project was created entirely in photoshop.
