Collection: Dali and Pachamama Ad Campaign
Design Challenge: The goal was to incorporate the Pachamama coffee brand logo into Salvador Dali’s unusual, surreal compositions. I am personally a huge fan of both Dali’s unique style and the idea of supporting and promoting the sustainable coffee company. I also enjoy the Incan mythology that Pachamama means “Earth Mother”, who provides abundance to those who live in harmony with the Earth’s natural cycles.
Design Process: I quickly realized that Dali did not have many artworks that could be considered a series, so I found my favorite theme within his work, which is the dresser drawer people. I wanted to make the sculpture match the paintings, so I incorporated another one of his paintings as the background, which also tied the three together with a matching color scheme.
Design Solution: I adjusted the backgrounds for each of Dali’s pieces in order to fill the canvas area and provide a feeling of cohesion between the images. The coffee cup image that I chose was of a plain white cup, which allowed me to easily add the Pachamama logo and adjust the color as needed. I added texture and shading to the cups to match the style of the classic paintings.
Software: Photoshop was used to create all of the adjustments to the original artworks.
